School-wide Celebrations: Welcome
Earth Day 2016
All of the students at Wellwood participated in an Earth Day Celebration in April of 2016. At this particular event, students were engaged in environmentally based lessons from the Maryland Ag Center, the Critter Dude, Madame Berg's Chickens, Charm City Run, and Cromwell Valley Nature Center. Students also decorated brown paper grocery bags from our community Shopper's with messages about recycling. These bags were then used to pack groceries at Shopper's.

OUR Schools' Energy Day 2017
Wellwood students participated in a day long event learning about renewable energy. Students attended an assembly and got to participate in two hands-on activities in their classrooms. Primary students created solar bead bracelets and wind socks. Intermediate students built wind anemometers and tested homopolar motors. Students also observed different forms of energy such as solar and wind energy. The learning continued at night with a family STEAM night.

Earth Day 2017
All of the students at Wellwood participated in an Earth Day Celebration in April of 2017. At this particular event, students were engaged in environmentally based lessons from Oregon Ridge Nature Center, the Critter Dude, Madame Berg's Chickens, Project WILD Trunks, the 4H Club, Maryland Department of the Environment, and Pearlstone. Other stations conducted by Wellwood parent volunteers included students participating in a Cafeteria Recycling Relay Race and recycled water bottle Butterfly Feeders.

National Outdoor Classroom Day 2017
On May 18, 2017, Wellwood students celebrated National Outdoor Classroom Day by reading books and writing in their journals outside. Many classes used our new outdoor classroom.

OUR Schools' Sustainable Food Day 2018
Wellwood students got hands-on with their food. Students learned about hydroponic farming and mircrogreens. The day kicked off with an interactive assembly followed by students planting their own microgreens. After a few weeks, Wellwood families joined us for a family STEAM night were families got to eat the microgreens their students grew.

Earth Day 2018
All of the students at Wellwood participated in an Earth Day Celebration in April of 2018. At this particular event, students were engaged in environmentally based lessons from the Critter Dude, Madame Berg's Chickens, Charm City Run, the Girl Scouts, the Benjamin Banneker Museum and Cromwell Valley Nature Center.  Other stations conducted by Wellwood parent volunteers included students creating seed bombs to take home and a lesson about pollution in our oceans.

Outdoor Classroom Day 2018
On November 1, 2018, Wellwood students celebrated National Outdoor Classroom Day. They read books and completed some of their lessons outside.

America Recycles Day
2016, 2017, & 2018
On November 15th, Wellwood students celebrated America Recycles Day. Each homeroom teacher taught lessons on recycling and talked about the different items we can recycle at school. Students also participated in Caine's Arcade. They made arcade games using recyclable materials.
